AAFES Exchange Expands Footprint With Three URUs

FORT RILEY, Kan.

The Army & Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) facility here unveiled three unattended retail units (URUs) across the installation, giving Soldiers a 24-hour convenience shopping experience.

The retail units, in the 1st Combat Aviation, 1st Brigade Headquarters and 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team Headquarters buildings, opened in July and August.

The self-serve units offer Better-For-You (BFY) snacks, frozen meals, toiletries and other items — all curated to the tastes and purchasing habits of the military community.

The units accept debit, credit and cash transactions at its self-checkout area. Soldiers can also use in-unit microwaves to heat their frozen and refrigerated meals for easy dining on the go.

“Soldiers have told us they are enjoying the URUs and the variety of options available to them,” said Exchange Services Business Manager Jessica Tacy.

“The vendor says the locations are performing well and sales are showing success,” she added.

TO-GO

The Fort Riley Exchange will also welcome a Buffalo Wild Wings To-Go later this year.
