AAFES Express Celebrates Grand Reopening

• REDSTONE ARSENAL, Ala.

The Army & Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) recently unveiled the newly renovated Goss Road Express, bringing an updated and more convenient shopping experience to the base’s military population.

Originally built in 1996, the nearly 14,000-square-foot store debuted its first renovation March 13. The $2.1-million project, funded by the Exchange, was completed in six months and
features a new beverage cave, polished flooring and new restaurants for the Redstone Arsenal community, including Chopz and Hunt Brothers Pizza.

Attendees received gift bags and samples of Hunt Brothers Pizza, Chopz and various beverages from the Express.

SPIRIT OF COLLABORATION

“Redstone Arsenal is committed to working collaboratively with the Exchange to support the evolving needs of our service members,” said Col. Erin Eike, Redstone Arsenal garrison commander.

“This effort reflects the coordination across our installation to ensure our nation’s heroes have access to the resources they need to carry out their mission,” Eike noted.

Sheldon Richburg, Exchange general manager (GM), echoed the spirit of collaboration.

“Today marks a new beginning as the Army & Air Force Exchange Service welcomes innovation and change to help us better serve our nation’s heroes and their families,”
Richburg said. “This celebration reflects the Exchange’s enduring partnership with Redstone Arsenal and our shared commitment to serving those who serve.”

“This celebration is a result of teamwork,” said Antonio Porter Sr., Exchange South Central Region vice president (VP). “These upgrades allow ‘Team Exchange’ to evolve to the needs of our patrons in the Huntsville area.”
