AAFES Installation Welcomes Furniture Store

• YOKOTA AB, Japan

Late last year, the Army & Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) celebrated the grand opening of the second Yellow Box Furniture Storefront location in the Pacific Region.

The 5,000-square-foot venue opened in the Yokota AB Community Center, expanding the Exchange Concessions footprint.

Exchange leadership from Okinawa, Yokota AB Exchange associates, Yellow Box furniture store employees and eager base shoppers attended the grand-opening ceremony.

“This is the ideal time to provide ‘comforts of home’ selections with the opening of the Yellow Box Furniture Store,” said Yokota AB Exchange General Manager (GM) Andrew Defelice.

“This is a great quality-of-life initiative, providing an extensive assortment of American and Asian furniture with cultural home décor selections at affordable prices for our service members and their families at Yokota,” he added.

VENUE FEATURES

Yellow Box Furniture Store specialties include providing comforts of home selections through U.S., Bali, Thailand, Vietnam and Indian furniture items; importing new products every week to commit to variety; striving to provide competitive prices; next-day delivery and furniture assembly offered; and a friendly atmosphere and bilingual sales associates with a deep knowledge about their products.

“This collaboration allows a greater number of options for our service members to outfit their homes with furniture not only from Japan, but from around the Pacific,” said Col. Jason Beck, Exchange Pacific Region commander.

“Yellow Box Furniture Store is a great option, as they have very reasonable prices and constantly change their inventory to keep customers coming back,” he stated. “The collaboration is perfect for the unique environment at Yokota.”

HISTORY … AND THE FUTURE

Yugen Gaisha C&D (aka Yellow Box) was founded in 2004 and started a partnership with the Exchange in 2006, under a long-term roving contract.

The Exchange started a long-term commodity contract with the Yellow Box Furniture Store on Camp Foster, Camp Courtney and Kadena AB, all in Japan, in 2011.

The first Yellow Box Furniture Storefront opened at Camp Foster in April 2024.

Installations in Japan will see two additional locations opening in the new year. Another Pacific Region Yellow Box Furniture Store is slated to open in March 2025 at Misawa AB and yet another store is scheduled to open at Camp Zama in the summer of 2025.
