The grand reopening event for the Army & Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) Main Store here took place on May 14.

The event featured several dignitaries, including the commanding general of White Sands Missile Range, Brig. Gen. George C. Turner, and Garrison Command Sgt. Maj. Jamal N. Latore.

In addition, JoAnne Cahalan, the Exchange general manager (GM), was at the grand reopening.

RENOVATIONS

The event celebrated the renovations completed at the store over the past year. Initially built in 1959 and previously renovated in 1999, the store now features a newly updated sales floor and offers customers a range of new retail options.

“With limited retail options available for service members, families and personnel at White Sands, today’s ceremony marks a significant step towards providing our community with improved retail, dining and convenience choices,” Cahalan noted.

Attendees enjoyed samplings from Hunt Brothers Pizza, Subway and Snack Avenue, along with offerings from vendor partners like Heart of the Desert, Monster, and Body Armor.

“This renovation is awesome,” Turner said. “I am tracking based on my research, there are roughly 100 PXs and BXs across the world, and this is the best one. Congratulations on a job well done.”
