AAFES Opens Popular Eateries Worldwide

The Army & Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) continued to open popular eateries across the globe throughout the latter stages of the summer.

Anyone can dine at Exchange restaurants, including civilians and visitors. Dining at Exchange restaurants and shopping Exchange stores help make the military community stronger, as 100 percent of Exchange earnings are reinvested in this community through support for on-base quality-of-life programs and capital improvements.

Here are a few such openings.

AAFES Exchange Opens Two Qdoba Restaurants

• USAG CAMP HUMPHREYS, South Korea

AAFES recently welcomed two Qdoba Mexican Eats here to the installation.

These are the third and fourth Qdobas in the Pacific Region after the Exchange opened the first two at Japan’s Kadena AB  and Camp Foster in August.

GRAND OPENINGS

On Sept. 12, USAG Humphreys Deputy to the Commander Daniel Hancock joined Exchange Pacific Commander Col. Jason Beck, Exchange Pacific Regional Vice President (VP) Jennifer Jordan and Camp Humphreys Exchange General Manager (GM) George McNamara in cutting the ribbon on the restaurant at the Family Mini-Mall.

A second location opened Sept. 13 at the Sentry Troop Mini-Mall.

“It’s a major morale boost for our community to have another healthy option and a taste of home here in Korea,” McNamara said. “The build-your-own menu, the flavor profile and the convenience make Qdoba a great fit for Camp Humphreys.”

The first Exchange Qdoba opened in 2016, and the Department of Defense (DoD) retailer now has more than 35 locations of the popular fast-casual Mexican eatery worldwide.

MENU

Qdoba’s menu is highly customizable and aligns with the Exchange’s BE FIT 360 initiative to aggressively expand the availability of Better-For-You (BFY) options on U.S. military installations.

Diners can build their own bowls, burritos, salads and more from more than 30 ingredients. There are also vegetarian, vegan, keto-friendly, low-carb, high-protein and gluten-friendly options available.

AAFES Brings Popular Asian Eatery To Base Food Court

• MacDILL AFB, Fla.

On Sept. 20, AAFES opened a Panda Express eatery here at the Exchange food court.

Panda Express, like all of the Exchange’s 1,400 restaurants, offers BFY options, such as string bean chicken breast, black pepper angus steak and steamed broccoli.

MacDill BX General Manager (GM) Thea Sarver said, “Adding Panda Express complements the other cuisine available at the BX food court. The community has expressed a lot of excitement for this project, and the Exchange is excited to deliver a delicious new dining option to them.”
