CNIC, NEXCOM Partner For High-Speed Internet

• JB PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM, Hawaii

In a program that improves quality of life for Sailors, Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC) and the Navy Exchange Service Command (NEXCOM) partnered to provide free, high-speed Internet to those living here in unaccompanied housing.

The initiative expanded reliable connectivity across barracks facilities to ensure service members remain connected with family, educational resources, and support networks.

THE PROGRAM

The program, which was installed through network cable on the base by contractors and went on line in late September, is free to those who use it.

It enables Sailors to utilize broad Internet access for many personal and professional tasks, including the completion of remote online training.

Plans for ongoing improvements and maintenance of the Wi-Fi infrastructure are in place to ensure continued service.
