Fitzhugh visited various commissaries in the state of North Carolina, where he received briefings on operational activities, met with employees, and recognized team members for outstanding performance.
Among those he met with during his visit here were Thomas C. Farrington II, USMC, commanding officer, MCAS New River, and Sallie A. Reeves-Vina, the base’s commissary officer.

On July 1, the Department of War (DoW) announced that Fitzhugh will succeed John E. Hall as the director and CEO of the agency, effective on Sept. 18.
Fitzhugh — who had served in various roles in the office of the assistant secretary of War for Manpower and Reserve Affairs ASW (M&RA), which oversees DeCA — joined the agency as deputy director on June 29, and will transition to the role of director and CEO when Hall retires.
