Hurricane Isaias Commissary and Exchange Operational Effects

As of October 8, 2026, Hurricane Isaias has intensified in the Gulf of Mexico, nearing Category 2 strength, with landfall expected near the Alabama–Florida border on October 9.

Military installations in the projected path, including Naval Air Station Pensacola, Eglin Air Force Base, Keesler Air Force Base, and Tyndall Air Force Base, are implementing precautionary measures, including evacuations and securing aircraft. The Department of War is coordinating with FEMA to ensure readiness and support for affected regions.

Please check official installation announcements to verify current operating conditions. Below are the updates we have received from our sources:

NAS Pensacola & Corry Station Annex

  • Defense Commissary Agency: Open during a highly restricted window from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM on Friday, October 9.
  • Navy Exchange Minimarts & Aviation Plaza: Operating on a modified schedule from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM on Friday, October 9.
  • Base Posture: The installation will close to all non-mission-essential personnel at 12:00 PM on Friday, October 9, at which time all retail operations will cease.

Eglin Air Force Base

  • Commissary & Base Exchange closed at 2:00 p.m. October 8.

Tyndall Air Force Base

  • Following the shift to HURCON 3 and a mission-essential-only reporting status, normal exchange and commissary access is restricted strictly to active base residents and essential staff conducting storm preparations.

Hurlburt Field

  • Commissary and Main Exchange operating on emergency schedules. Following the mandatory evacuation order for select low-lying privatized housing zones, standard customer operations are curtailed, and services are restricted to mission-essential personnel only.

NAS Whiting Field

  • Commissary and Navy Exchange suspended standard public operations. Following the elevation to Tropical Cyclone Condition of Readiness Three, non-essential services are closed.

Duke Field

  • Exchange Services: Normal operations are suspended in conjunction with neighboring Eglin AFB restrictions. Field retail operations are limited to mission-essential requirements.

Keesler Air Force Base

  • Commissary and BX facilities are operating under restrictive HURCON 4 protocols. Hours are tightly controlled around sheltering personnel and base residents, with standard public and retiree retail traffic deferred.

Fort Rucker / Fort Novosel

  • Main Exchange and Commissary: Operating on shortened or adjusted afternoon schedules to clear the facilities ahead of localized wind gusts and tropical storm conditions moving inland.
