Marine Corps Community Services’ (MCCS) Business and Support Services Division (MR) promoted Peter J. Leon as the new divisional merchandise manager (DMM) for Hardlines and Commercial Military Clothing.

Leon brings more than two decades of retail merchandising and leadership experience to the position, including nearly 11 years serving the Marine Corps community.

His career has been defined by strategic growth, data-driven decision-making, and a deep commitment to supporting Marines, Sailors, and their families around the world.

“It has been a tremendous privilege to support Marines, Sailors, and their families throughout my career, and I am honored and excited for the opportunity to expand that impact as divisional merchandise manager,” Leon said.

“In this role, I will focus on strategic growth and process innovation across Hardlines and Commercial Military Clothing, identifying creative ways to deliver greater value and savings to our patrons while preserving and strengthening the giveback that supports critical community services,” he noted.

He added, “I am equally committed to ensuring Marines and Sailors have the products they need, when and where they need them, through strong collaboration with vendor partners, command leadership, and the continued expansion of our Buying Alliance initiatives.”

RETAIL CAREER

Leon’s retail journey began shortly after graduating from Penn State University with a degree in Marketing, launching into buying and merchandise planning roles at Boscov’s, Macy’s/Federated Department Stores, and Value City Department Stores.

Since joining MCCS in 2015, he has held leadership roles across both Hardlines and Commercial Military Clothing, managing businesses ranging from Toys and Seasonal to complex military uniform assortments supporting recruit training, Officer Candidate School, graduations, ceremonial events, and operational readiness programs.

“Peter exemplifies the best of MCCS: mission-focused, collaborative, and relentlessly committed to serving Marines and their families,” said Jen Wible, deputy director and chief operating officer (COO).

“Peter brings an impressive resume of experience from outside the gate coupled with a thoughtful, analytical approach to merchandising and a genuine passion for supporting those who serve” she noted. “We are proud to welcome him into this critical role and look forward to the impact he will continue to make across the enterprise.”
