NEXCOM, AAFES Recognized As Top Latina Employers

• COLLEYVILLE, Texas

For the 13th consecutive year, the Navy Exchange Service Command (NEXCOM) was named a top Latina employer by LATINA Style magazine, and once again, for the 17th consecutive year, the Army & Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) also placed on the list.

The LATINA Style 50 Report recognizes the nation’s top 50 employers committed to recruiting, retaining and promoting Latinas.

NEXCOM, as the “NEXCOM Enterprise,” placed at #43 on the list, while AAFES came in at #47 in the 2024 report.

The two military resale retailers will be recognized during the LATINA Style 50 Awards Ceremony & Diversity Leaders Conference in Washington, D.C., in May.

NEXCOM

“Receiving this award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the entire NEXCOM Enterprise to ensure that we continuously foster an inclusive workplace that values diversity,” said retired Rear Adm. Robert J. Bianchi, NEXCOM’s chief executive officer (CEO).

“Our nearly 13,000 associates across the globe reflect our Navy and nation’s diversity,” he added. “And, I firmly believe our diversity is what makes our command such a great place to work.”

NEXCOM’s Human Resources Office is committed to hiring talented individuals with diverse backgrounds.

Part of its strategy includes recruiting talent from educational institutions that serve Hispanic and Latino students. NEXCOM maximizes Student Educational Employment Programs and internships at the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities.

The exchange service also works with leading Hispanic and Latino-focused organizations, like the Hispanic Alliance for Career Enhancement (HACE), and attends job fairs that are expected to attract a diverse audience.

AAFES

“Being recognized by Latina Style is an incredible affirmation of our commitment to advance the careers of Latinas at the Exchange,” said Vice President (VP) of Planning, Allocation and Replenishment (PAR) Genny Roland, the Exchange’s highest-ranking Latina.

“The recognition is a reminder that our efforts have the power to inspire and make a meaningful impact as the Exchange provides opportunities for all,” Roland noted.

Latinas make up more than 9 percent of the Exchange’s 26,000-strong workforce. The Exchange is committed to recruiting and retaining a diverse workforce, including veterans and military spouses, to serve military communities across the world.

During the last 12 months, Latinas made up 66 percent of promotions at the executive level. Additionally, the Exchange’s special emphasis program Hispanic Outreach, Leadership, and Awareness (¡HOLA!) drives professional development and educating the workforce.
