Sgt. Maj. Ikegwuonu Named SEA, AAFES Europe/Africa/SW Asia Region

  • SEMBACH AB, Germany

The Army & Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) recently named Sgt. Maj. Ashley Ikegwuonu as the senior enlisted advisor for the Europe/Africa/Southwest Asia region. She succeeded Sgt. Maj. Jason A. Urquhart in this position.

Ikegwuonu is assigned here to the regional headquarters, where she serves as a key liaison between Exchange leadership, local commands and the military community.

In her new role, Ikegwuonu will focus on enhancing the quality of life for military personnel and their families throughout the region. She is committed to advocating for the needs of the military community and supporting the Exchange’s mission to provide essential goods and services that deliver the best “tastes of home.”

Ikegwuonu will visit Exchange stores across the region, engaging with command groups and gathering feedback to strengthen the Exchange’s support of military quality-of-life programs.

HER RESUME

A native of Columbia, S.C., Ikegwuonu began her Army career at Fort Jackson, S.C., enlisting in 2002. After basic training, she completed her Advanced Individual Training as a supply specialist at Fort Lee (now Fort Gregg-Adams), Va.

In her 22-year military career, Ikegwuonu has deployed multiple times to Iraq in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom (OEF/OIF).

Her most recent deployment was to Camp Al Sayliyah in Qatar for Operation Allies Refuge.

She comes to the Exchange from Fort Stewart, Ga., where she was the first sergeant for Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 3rd Division Sustainment Brigade.

Ikegwuonu holds a master’s degree in business from Liberty University and a bachelor of science in business administration, with a concentration in logistics management, from Columbia Southern University, where she graduated magna cum laude. Additionally, she has an associate’s degree in general studies from American Military University.

“NEW CHAPTER”

“I’m incredibly excited to start this new chapter,” Ikegwuonu said. “Joining the Exchange allows me to contribute to the well-being of our service members and their families while they are away from home. It’s an honor to work with such a dedicated team.

“The Exchange has always been a vital support system for me during my deployments,” Ikegwuonu said. “Now, I have the opportunity to give back and see first-hand how we make a difference in the lives of service members and their families.

“The Exchange plays such a significant role in the lives of our service members. I look forward to contributing to the Exchange’s mission and supporting our community with the dedication and passion I have always brought to my career.”
