Tax Collector Office Brings Convenience To AAFES Installation

• MacDILL AFB, Fla.

Government services are now more accessible for Airmen and families here at this Army & Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) installation with the opening of the Hillsborough County Tax Collector’s Office at the BX.

The location offers a full suite of services, including driver licenses and ID cards; vehicle registration and title transactions; property tax payments; hunting and fishing licenses and other services, helping the MacDill AFB community to save time and complete routine tasks without leaving the base.

“Bringing these essential services to the BX is a significant improvement for the MacDill community,” said Sherri Samudio, MacDill Exchange services business manager, during the grand opening, which included the participation of more than 50 local leaders, and county and state elected officials.

“By collaborating with the Hillsborough County Tax Collector’s Office, we’re making it easier for Airmen and their families to take care of important tasks quickly and conveniently in one place,” she noted.

“We think the office will be a big win for the MacDill BX,” she explained. “If you’ve ever used these services outside the gate, then you know you may be waiting a long time. At the BX, shoppers can address their other needs while waiting for their turn.”

SERVING BASE POPULATION

Home to U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command, MacDill AFB sees nearly 17,000 warfighters, their families and Department of War (DoW) civilians each day.

The office operates on a first-come, first-served basis. Customers can

walk in, join the waiting list and opt in to receive a text message when it is their turn.

The Hillsborough County Tax Collector’s Office at the BX is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
